This may come as a shock to some of you digital natives but I acquired a laptop very recently, just three months ago in fact. Of course, I had access to the internet and stuff before that but not as unrestrictedly as I do now. And seriously, this technology is, I believe, one of God's greatest gifts to mankind. All the information in the world now lies at my very fingertips and it's so easy to use and find. Take for example, this amazing series of MIT lectures. These incredible lectures and demonstrations are freely available to anyone with an internet connection! I fully agree with the government of Finland that has made 'access to the internet' a fundamental right of their citizens. It is an honour and a privilege to live in this age of enlightenment.
My astrophysics classes started last Saturday and they're so much fun! The atmosphere of intellectual stagnation at Joseph's is making me slightly desperate, so this comes as a welcome breath of mental stimulation. I really don't know what to do about my college course - it's frustrating to cover basic topics at snail's pace, and even more frustrating when some bright spark goes "Miss, I didn't get that, could you go over it again?"
I don't want to shock you (actually I do), but they test us on programs that we've already worked out in class! I am going to go stark, staring mad one of these days and murder all of them with a single ballpoint pen. My only hope at this point seems to be the KVPY exam for entrance to the Indian Institute of Science. Please, powers of the cosmos, help me get in!
In other, less depressing news, I'm turning eighteen in a month!

At what point do I stop being a kid and start being a mature adult? Is it when I stop being excited about birthdays?
